We're back on the Face This headquarters in Rotterdam. They were 14 wonderful days. Unbelievable to see the building of the new school really got started. Within two months 250 children may finally enjoy proper education. Anyone who contributes with a Face This t-shirt should be proud of themselves. Because you made this a succes. Thumbs up for yourself! During the construction of the school we keep you informed with pictures of the progress. Keep this site is in the eye. Or follow us on Facebook.
The students of the Indonesian school Duduk Atas signed prints for up to three T-shirt collections. Because we now have collected enough money, we can make the dream of students and teachers come true by achieve an expansion of the school. But what does this mean exactly and what can be realized with all of the proceeds from the T-shirts?
First, the current school building will be renovated. All holes, cracks and other defects are repaired. In addition, the classrooms have glass windows and this is what the chicken wire between the window frame is replaced.
Besides the renovation of the existing school building, a completely new building will be built. It houses two new classrooms. And the doctor of the village gets a new home in here as well. Not only the children of the school here in consultation, but also the rest of the village is obviously more than welcome here.
Under the new school building is a large reservoir. This is very important to the community. So far, all residents of the village get their water miles away (especially higher). But when the school is finished, this is no longer necessary. All rainwater will be collected by the water reservoir and will be filtered so it can be used as drinking water.
After sold about 500 T-shirts, a nomination for the ASN Bank World Prize and the first Benefit Collage in the Netherlands, Face This again puts foot on Indonesian soil. The foundation has raised enough money to the renovate the school of Duduk Atas, the school where the drawings of the three T-shirt collections were processed.
Today Face This visited school for the first time in 2010. By a good local coordinator, the renovation has started two weeks earlier. Hence there is already a lot of activity at the school. The fathers of the pupils and the village head were already busy with the foundation of the new building, and the mothers carry the heavy bags of cement up the hill. Luckily the students themselves were having classes. But there was also time for a quick 'chat'. The always shy kids are becoming more accustomed to our visits and want to have a chat. Especially the smaller kids are happy that they go to school and were more than happy to show that we already able to read from the school board.
