Jos van der Hoek was born in Indonesia, but lived his entire life in the Netherlands. With Face This he wants to do something about the poverty and plight of the children in his homeland. With the knowledge and experience he has gained in the Netherlands in the field of communications, PR and journalism, he wants to offer the children of Duduk Atas a good basis. Jos about Face This ‘Since we completed our first project in Lombok (Duduk Atas), we are convinced the T-shirt concept is a truly, strong and honest tool to support Indonesian kids in their way to grow as an independent individual. We are proud to see how the kids themselves are able to build class rooms, get school material or get their teachers to college. All because of their own, unique creativity.’ Jelka Priem is a teacher of group 6, 7 and 8 of a Dutch elementary school. She is already teaching for eight years now. And with her passion for education she wants to give kids in Indonesia a promising future as well. At her school Jelka has held several coordinating functions. Jelka about Face This 'As a teacher at a Montessori school in Barendrecht, I find it very important that children also develop in a creative way. That’s why on Friday’s we always begin the weekend by dancing through the classroom. Then the children search on Youtube for cool music clips and we are all dancing the day away. The children really enjoy dancing together. To see that pleasure on very kids’ face is priceless. In one of our schools in Indonesia, it 's very different as they used to dance without music. Because they do not have any power or instruments. Let alone an internet connection.' |
